Did you know that the 2020 Census will impact everything from funding for your local schools and hospitals to who represents us in DC and Harrisburg? The Census Bureau recently announced that Sept. 30 will be the last day for anyone to participate and make sure they and their community are counted.

If you haven't filled out your census form, there is still time! Complete the 2020 Census online or by phone to make sure you are counted!

If you haven't completed the census yet, a census worker might knock on your door. A census worker will always:
1. Have identification with their name, photograph, expiration date, and U.S. the Department of Commerce watermark. 
2. Wear a mask and follow physical distancing protocols. They will not enter your home.

Census takers WILL NOT ASK for:
❌ Immigration status 
❌ Income
❌ Social Security Number
❌ Donations

Last week the Driving PA Forward Coalition took a huge step by having their legislation for driver's licenses for all introduced! HB2835 will:
1. Provide safety to all drivers in Pennsylvania by ensuring that all drivers have passed the driving examination and are licensed to drive, regardless of immigration status
2. Protect the privacy of all residents of Pennsylvania who have driver's licenses
3. Stimulate the economy in Pennsylvania by expanding drivers eligible to purchase car insurance
4. Provide valid identification to everyone
5. Allow all drivers to have proof of insurance and registration
6. Enhance knowledge of the rules & responsibilities of the road for every driver

Now is when we need the entire Pennsylvania community to come together to make this bill become law. Here are ways you can get involved:
- Sign the Driving PA Forward Coalition's petition
- Contact your state legislator and ask them support HB2835
- Participate in the Coalition's 40 Days of Prayer and Fasting

Registration for the 2020 Youth Leadership Conference is now open! This year's conference will be held virtually on September 11-13th.

We believe in the important role and impact of young leaders in our movement. This is why PICC has continued to engage immigrant youth across the state in advocacy, provided support, and direct leadership development! We look forward to our 2020 Youth Leadership Conference, which will bring together immigrant youth from different walks of life across PA. As in past years, the conference is 100% led by our youth membership. The planning committee is working hard so that attendees be able to share their stories and develop leadership skills, organizing skills, and have a chance to build relationships with other youth who share similar experience and goals!

Community Navigator Training

Join PICC's quarterly Community Navigator Training on Wednesday, Septenber 16th, 6-8pm and Thursday, September 17th, 6-8pm in both English and Spanish!

The Community Navigator Training is intended to prepare advocates, organizers, and allies to provide accurate information and immigration-related assistance to immigrant communities. If you are interested in becoming a Community Navigator in Pennsylvania, please attend both parts of the training program. This workshop is free and open to the public.
